For those who know my story, you know I’ve walked some of the darkest roads. I’ve known the deep loneliness of incarceration, the brutal cycle of addiction, and the desperation of homelessness. I have faced circumstances that most people never have to endure, and it is precisely that journey that has gifted me a perspective of deep, unwavering empathy for others. I know how easily a person, especially a child, can fall.
My Goal: To Be the Catcher in the Rye
My life’s mission, and the entire reason EnsenadaDirect.com exists, is rooted in the powerful message of J.D. Salinger's The Catcher in the Rye.
The protagonist, Holden Caulfield, dreams of standing in a field of rye, catching children before they fall off a cliff. To me, that cliff is ignorance, vulnerability, and lack of opportunity. It is the space where young dreams shatter and the path to desperation begins—the path I know all too well.
I cannot go back and catch the younger version of myself, but I can dedicate my life to building a sturdy guardrail for the children of Ensenada today. Education is that guardrail.
By utilizing the funds generated through this business directory, we are giving our kids the tools, resources, and safe environment they need to grow, learn, and thrive, ensuring they never have to face that perilous cliff unprotected.
This project is the manifestation of my life's triumph, powered by the love of Christ and the second chance I found in this beautiful city. I pour my heart and my decades of experience—from founding non-profits to volunteer teaching—into making this vision a reality.

Having successfully overcome personal circumstances that most of us could never withstand—including addiction, incarceration, and homelessness—his life is founded on determination and faith. This path has forged in him an unshakable empathy and profound wisdom, making him uniquely credible and compassionate in driving community change.
His leadership is proven: he is the Principal Founder and Director of Fundación San Felipe Unidos por la Educación, a former Rotarian, and a dedicated volunteer English instructor. These skills, coupled with his natural ability in publicity, ensure his plan will succeed.
We are profoundly happy that Ben calls Ensenada home. Having witnessed the depth of his commitment and the detail in his existing plan, we, his team and friends, are committed to bolstering his vision.
